CULTURAL TRANSIT ASSEMBLY LAUNCH PARTY
100 N Central Park Ave, Chicago, IL 60624
Join the Floating Museum as we kick off the latest initiative, Cultural Transit Assembly, a year of free public exhibitions, inflatable sculpture, performances and train car installation to activate Chicago’s Green Line train. On Saturday, July 13th, 12- 4pm at the Garfield Park Gold Dome Fieldhouse come meet the artists, enjoy food, entertainment and more!
Cultural Transit Assembly has six elements: a modified train car gallery and performances on the CTA Green Line, and exhibitions and programs in four parks including Austin Town Hall Park, Garfield Park and Washington Park/South Branch. Through partnerships with the Chicago Transit Authority and the Chicago Park District, Floating Museum will transform the Greenline into a moving cultural destination. All programs are free and open to the public!
This event also highlights our community partner, West Side Cultural Arts Council as they present: “Soul on the Veranda” a part of their The P.L.A.N. (Peace, Love. Art & Nature) series featuring live musical performances.
This project was partially supported by Indiana University's New Frontiers in the Arts & Humanities Program.
